How to set up a registration form

When registration is required to access an event, you need to set up your registration form in Nexa.

Open the Event Editor

Navigate to Settings -> Registration

On the page in your event, that holds the registration form, open the settings for it.

Titles and description

The first part of the configuration is titles and description.
Nexa supports 2 types of registration. To guide the visitor through the registration, you have 3 optional fields.

In the illustration above, you can see where the content of each field is placed.
The label for registration type is only visible when both registration types are enabled.

Select form

Pay attention to which form you are editing. Make sure to click the appropriate (Online, Physical), before making changes to the form layout and fields.

Form Title

If "Online" or "Physical" is not the words you want to use for your form and buttons, you can change the title.

In this guide, we keep the title as "Online"

Form Builder

The form builder has built in drag and drop functionality to organize your form fields. Click and drag by the dotted lines next to the field name.

Rows, Columns and Components

Your form is very dynamic and will adapt to the screen it is viewed on. You can change the layout by adding columns and rows.

You can have 2 columns in each row and as many rows you need. In each column you can have as many fields as you need.

Using the drag and drop function is the best way to organize your fields, to have the order which is most intuitive for your visitors.

Understanding the connection between the form builder and the form is visualized here:

Protected fields

The only absolutely required field that cannot be removed or skipped, is the email field.

We use the email address as a key identifier and thus must be present for all registrations.

Field types

You can create 2 fields types:
  1. Text
  2. Checkbox

Create new text field

Text fields are the most common fields.

The information needed to create a text field is:

Name
This is an internal system name for the field. This must be unique for this form. You cannot have 2 fields named the same in the same form.

Label
This is the text next to or inside the field, to indicate what information is expected.

Placeholder
Some browsers need a text to read out for better accessibility. Make the text understandable.

Required
If you enable "Required, the visitor must fill in the field to register.

Create new checkbox

A checkbox is a great way to get a straight yes/no, true/false answer.

The information needed to create a text field is:

Name
This is an internal system name for the field. This must be unique for this form. You cannot have 2 fields named the same in the same form.

Label
This is the text next to the toggle/checkbox.

Placeholder
Some browsers need a text to read out for better accessibility. Make the text understandable.

Required
If you enable "Required, the visitor must fill in the field to register.

Edit existing fields

If you need to update a field, click the pencil next to the field name in the form builder.

A small windows will open and allow you to update the field properties.

Important

If you have already opened up for visitors and have registrations, you should not change the "Name" in the field properties, if this is used in email/SMS communications, as this might break the connection.
Before you open up for registrations, you can change the field all you want.

The "Label" and "Placeholder" can be updated at any time, without impact to other functions.

Delete field

If you need to delete a field, click the trashcan next to the field name in the form builder.

Deleting the field is instant and non-reversible.

Publish your changes

To see your changes take effect, click Save followed by Publish.
Your changes will take effect instantly.
